Whitney Elizabeth Houston was conceived into a musical family, 9 August 1993, in Newark New Jersey. Whitney is the cousin of daughter of the singer Dionne. In Newark Whitney, she began singing with the church choir in the early years of her childhood. At the age 15 she joined her mom in the background vocals for Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. It was, however it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard that solidified her position as one of the world's most loved artists. Although her performance in the film and its soundtrack were not well-received but the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You as well as The Bodyguard album that accompanied it topped charts all over the world for months. In the same year, she got married to former New Edition star Bobby Brown with whom she had her only child their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, born in March 1993. In the same year her use of drugs was well-documented and she began using daily until 1996.
