Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder is a native of Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her in honor of her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder moved together with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. They didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious reading book because there was no television. Ryder began taking acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of 12. In the year she turned 15, Ryder had a chance to play in Lucas, her first major film. Ryder was a victim of bullying in high school. Her acting career, she hoped, would help her. But sadly, it didn't work out. But she kept working towards her ambitions. Her breakthrough came in 1988 through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in a variety of films. She received nominations for two Academy Awards one for her role in The Age of Innocence (1993).
