This mix of reggaeton and pop music not only brought attention back to the genre, but also to Latin music generally. In 2015, there were only two songs that were predominantly Spanish-language on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 for 2020. the number of songs that made it was 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in the year. Then, popular artists began working with reggaeton musicians. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) while Madonna worked with Maluma in Medellin. In the year 2020, some Reggaeton artists were complaining about the direction of the genre toward mainstream. However, a younger generation, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. The genre often incorporated elements of electronic dance and other genres.
